I started a bit of a discussion over on BGG.com that kinda got out of my hands, so I figured I would bring it over here. I posted that my 7-year-old son and I were playing some games this weekend, namely Attacktix Marvel edition and Battlegrounds: Crossbows and Catapults, and he wanted to know what "kind" of games they were (he has heard me use the term EuroGame before).
I'm not real fond of the AmeriTrash designation, and didn't want to spend time explaining to him why we were calling these games we enjoyed "trash," so I called them AmeriToys, basically toys that have game rules. I kinda like this designation (though I understand it doesn't apply to all AT games) and intend to use it more often, but I figured I would toss it out there and see what you all think.
BTW, I plan on posting some play reports/reviews on some of the games I picked up over the weekend, including those. Most were on sale and very light games intended for kids and adults who've never grown up. ;)
