This Saturday, at 12:00 NOON at LLGC The Castle, in Beckley, starts the year long tournament circuit that will be played monthly at one of our 3 locations for the next year. How does it work you wonder?

Schedule: Every month there is a 40K tournament at every one of our 3 stores. They are scheduled on different days at different locations so you can go all of them if you want. Every month, 1 of those 3 events is part of the "Charcon" event. (No, this isn't opperated by Charcon, you'll see why we call it that soon, kep reading.) The Charcon Circuit event location changes every month. This month it is at LLGC The Castle, in Beckley. To find out where it is next month and subsequent months, go to www.theroguetrader.net and check out the calendar. The start time of an event can found on the website schedule or by calling the store. IF you cannot find the information needed, it is good to assume that it will begin at NOON SHARP. If you are late to an event, it is possible you will miss the opportunity to play. So, don't be late!

Awards: At all of our tournaments there are prizes. It costs nothing to play in these events. During a Charcon Circuit event however, you ALSO get Charcon Tournament Circuit POINTS based on your achievements in the event. At Charcon 2010, we will have the LLGC/Charcon Tournament Circuit Finals. At that tournament, we will be giving away prizes as normal based on the standings of that event. Above that, we will ALSO be giving away some bigger prizes. The player(s) at the end of the Charcon 2010 Tournament, with the most Charcon Tournament Circuit points, will also win prizes. It is not possible to receive negative points! Every event Circuit event is worth at least 1 point, even if you are in last place. So you might want to go to the events at our other stores too and not just your closest store.

Participation: You don't count as having completely played in the event if you quit early and do not play your games or if you are ejected from the event for any reason. You will not be awarded any prizes or any points in that case.

Scoring: Every 3 months, there is a Charcon Circuit event at each store. The number of possible Circuit points available at each event in that 3 month block is the same. The following 3 events will have a slight excllation in potential Circuit Point earnings. Charcon games will be worth the most. There will, from time to time, be special events or conditions that allow for a FEW extra bonus points here and there. Leagues, terrain-building events, etc...

Sportsmanship: As always, sportsmanship is important! You can be ejected from one or all of our events for poor sportsmanship. Poor sportsmanship includes, but is not limited to, whining about a judges final ruling. You may not agree with the ruling, but the judge decided it and it stands until further notice, judges are impartial to the game and doing the best they can to be fair. If you disagree with the judge's final ruling, feel free to argue your point after the event! Sometimes rules are a little ambiguous and people don't always agree on their interpretation. If you are in the minority on ANY rule interpretation, you just have to deal with it maturely. So, grow up whiny people!

Cheating: Anyone caught knowingly and willfully cheating at ANY of our events, Charcon Circuit or otherwise, will be disqualified! You don't want to be someone that NOBODY is willing to play GAMES with because you cheat. If we have to, we will eliminate the need for other players to opt out of games with cheaters by removing the cheaters from the events. These are GAMES! Everyone wants to win but cheating to win is such a hollow victory, and losing to a cheater makes it hard to lose gracefully and enjoy the game at all. So, grow up cheaters!

Requirements: You need to bring your army. (Proxies are allowed but they must be OBVIOUS and SIMPLE proxies. So, "All my marines have bolters even if they are modeled with pistols and knives," isn't too bad. BUT, "Any Marine with a purity seal on his butt is actually a Venerable Dreadnought. This one has LasCannons and Missiles, this one has Power Claws, and this one has 2 Autocannons and RIDES A DRAGON..." is too much to keep track of. When in doubt, check with the tournament judges well before the event to make sure about your proxies.)
You need to bring your army list. You have to provide your opponent with your army list WHENEVER (s)he wants to see it and it has to be readable. So I recommend you bring extra copies and give one to your opponent and I suggest typing it or using some army creation software. You have to provide the tournament judge with your army list WHENEVER (s)he wants to see it. So I recommend bringing a copy for the judge as well and refer to the readable part above. You might want your own copy, but I think you can figure that out yourself.
You need to bring your rules. Anything your army needs. Codex, Rulebook, White Dwarf Magazine, etc...
You need to bring your gear. What's gear? Measuring device, dice, templates, line of sight laser point/piece of string, etc...

Painting: Fully painted models and armies are wonderful. It is not crucial that you have a fully painted army, but we like it if you do. A FEW extra points may be awarded for painting.

This Saturday the event is worth a potential 10 points to the 1st place player. Minimum points available is 1 to any participant. 1500 point MAXIMUM army size. Any current Codex army. Standard army construction.

This is the beginning of the web of connected events and leagues we want to build for our regular players and for everyone who attends our events at Charcon.

I was thinking this would be fun, but I don't play Warhammer. I play other stuff so I'd like to see leagues for them.

I am sure we can start leagues for other games/systems if we have interest.

In the works we have:

Bloodbowl
Warhammer Fantasy
Flames of War

warhammer fantasy would be great also....it would give me a great excuse to finally start painting a warhammer fantasy army!

I finally broke down and talked Ghost Prime into buying me some Skaven. It wasn't that hard since he had shown me the Skaven issue of White Dwarf, which means he was planning that I'd want to get them once I saw the new upcoming codex, lol. Up until I saw the Skaven I wasn't that interested in playing Fantasy, but now I'm definitely up for it. Gotta catch up on my painting of some of my 40k stuff first, but I'll start working on those Skaven soon.

The tournament series is at all three stores, so your not limited at playing in only one location. We started it here in Beckley on the 7th. The next tournament in the series is.....

December 6th at the Keep 1500 points
January 9th at the Rifleman 1500 points
February 6th at the Castle 2500 points
March 21 at the Keep 2500 points

additional dates will be scheduled later continuing to rotate between stores.

Also congratulations to Montana for coming in first!

also as a side question about the planetstrike tourny at the rifleman this saturday, is it 2500pts or 2250? The roguetrader site events section says 2500pts but the upcoming events calender here on this site lists it at 2250. Just wondering which it is so i can be prepared. thanks

Just a minor correction it is going to be 2250 pt my fault guys somethings gotten mixed up paper work. But it will be 2250 planet strike and please have your attacker and defender lists ready when you get here. Army Builder will be available to use and print your list for a small paper/ink fee.
