CharCon - CharCon Pre-Registration and Information
  • CharCon Information - Pre-Registration and Event Submission Open!

CharCon 2012 Pre-Registration and Event Submission are now open!

Pre-Registration - For 2012 our Registration system has been entirely changed. No more Zen Cart (much rejoicing here!). We are lucky enough to be partnering with MSTB Gaming to handle all of our registration, both now and onsite.

Pre-registering is now easier than ever before.
    1. Head over to the MSTB Gaming site and create an account.
    2. Select CharCon from the list of available conventions.
    3. Purchase your badge!
MSTB Gaming makes it super easy to pay for your badges with a secure & certified Credit Card transaction. No need to mess with PayPal! If you need to pay via some other method, email me at travis_reynolds@charcon.org.

Many of you will want to purchase badges for not only yourself, but for others (friends, family members, etc.). This is very simple (especially compared to previous years!).

There are two ways to make other people available so you can purchase their badges:

Sub-Accounts- These are intended for children under 18. You simply create them a sub account and you can purchase their badge.

Friends - Anyone 18 or older should have their own account, which they can either create themselves or you can create it for them using their information and email address. Once the account is created, you can add them to your friends list, which enables you to purchase them badges. Children with sub-accounts can be converted to full accounts when they turn 18.

CharCon 2012 Admission Prices (remember, dates are October 19-21, 2012):

    Weekend - $40
    Friday - $20
    Saturday - $25
    Sunday - $20
    Under 12 Weekend - $20
    Under 12 per day - $10
    Visitors - $5

Quick note on prices. You may notice that our admission prices have gone up slightly from 2012. Each year we evaluate costs and do everything we can to keep our price as low as possible. This is only the 2nd price increase we have had in 7 years. As we add in new things, grow in size and require more space, our costs go up. Our venue raises their rates (we are back at the Charleston Civic Center this year) from time to time. We will continue to strive to keep our prices from going up and to give you the best gaming experience possible for the lowest price. Remember, CharCon is a non-profit organization with a goal of growing and promoting gaming in the state of WV, so our prices are established based on the needs of the business.

T-Shirts - You can also purchase a CharCon 2012 T-Shirt via the same web store. As normal, the art is not avilable and will not be released until show time, but rest assured it will be really cool. It is being designed by none other than awesome artist Andy Hopp! Those of you who wished you had purchased one last year, this note is for you!

Shirts are $20, plus extra for larger sizes. As always, with pre-registration you get to pick the color of your shirt!

Pre-Registration Perks - What do I get for pre-registering? Always a good question.

Everyone who pre-registers for a Full Weekend badge will receive:
    • 5 Free CharCon Raffle Tickets
    • A free game from Pre-Registration Sponsor Eagle/Gryphon Games
    • An invitation to the CharCon VIP Dinner featuring our guests
    • Access to sign up for all your favorite games before the show and before they are full
    • The joy of helping CharCon, because pre-registration is super helpful to us in our planning efforts
    • The ability to avoid having to register onsite
Plus, consider taking advantage of our Pre-Registration special, the CharCombo! You receive 1 Full Weekend Badge and 1 T-Shirt for only $55

Event Submission - Our 2012 Event Submission will also be handled via the MSTB Gaming site. The process of submitting games is super easy and it walks you through each step. Again, simply select CharCon after logging into your account. From there select Events > Run an Event and follow the steps.

Once submitted, our Event Coordinators & Event Director will review all Events and contact you if we have any questions.

The form does have a few new fields, so if you have any questions, just let us know.

Remember, Event Upcharges must be approved in advance by the CharCon Staff and are primarily reserved for only events with large prize support or event in which participants receive product (such as a booster draft). Contact us if you have questions.

Hotel - Don't forget to book your room at the Holiday Inn Express. It is just across the street. Plus, we will have games there during the day and overnight. Even better, book before Septermber 16th and you have a chance to win a free night! More Information here.

I think that about covers it.

Big thanks to our Pre-Registration sponsors, Eagle/Gryphon Games.

Also, thanks to MSTB Gaming for partnering with us on everything. An added perk of using the MSTB gaming site is that it gives you direct access to pre-registering for other conventions they mange, such as AnCon and Con on the Cob. Take a few minutes to check them out! Already having an account on their site makes it super easy.

Thanks! See you guys in October!!!

Can you explain what the visitor pass is and what it gives you access to? I've had people asking me about that. ME

Visitor passes allow people to shop and observe games/events, but not actually participate. If a vendor is demoing a game, they can take part in a short demo, but nothing full length. They can of course upgrade if they decide they want to play something.Hope that covers it for ya Mike.TR

the games registeration doesnt have a lot of the star wars d6 games on it, is this a glitch or has the system not updated all the way yet?

I don't think they are finished submitting them. Dave & I were just working with Jim Medley on it this past Sunday, so I would expect to see more of them very soon. Once GM's submit an event, the turn around before it is available on the website is pretty quick.TR

Hey Anthony, I actually had them make it so your account doesnt show the Sparks games. You want your fix, you gotta earn it. Just Kidding, they should all be up now, tho I have noticed a double listing of one, and two do not seem to be showing up at this time. I will be talking with Smitty tomorrow to see if he submitted those two.

This says that if you pre-register, you get to pick the color of your shirt. How does one go about doing that? I just got the family pre-registered last night through the new site (way better than last year) but there wasn't an option for color. Just curious. Thanks

The MTSB site says not to buy a badge if you are running events. I have entered a bunch of events for Sea Dog Game Studios, but my account shows no badges. Do I need to get badges for me and my other gamemasters, or are they assigned based on hours of events run, or what?-Ed

The information about GM badges on the MSTB site is not in reference to CharCon. They have been editing and were supposed to have removed almost all of those from the pages that relate to CharCon. Sorry for any confusion that has caused. Don't worry, this is not the first time it has come up.Everyone does need badges. If you have questions, just email me. travis_reynolds@charcon.orgThanks!TR

seriously....make it too much hassle and people won't bother....
