Several members of the CharCon staff (and many other WV gamers) are heading to the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio from June 25 -29. http://www.originsgamefair.com/
This can be a wonderful experience for gamers of all ages and types. There are collectible cards, role playing, tabletop miniatures, boardgames, a vendor room, war games, an auction, an art competition, guest speakers, free stuff, game companies, seminars, and tons of other things.
A few of the CharCon staff and friends are running games through the week. (Romulus68's Warhammer Fantasy, Nick and Buck's Civil War "3 days of Gettysburg" event) The rest of us will volunteering to teach games for Jolly Roger Games in the demonstration room. In exchange, we get some discounted hotel rooms and other things. This is part of the Origins volunteer program. It is a great way to meet publishers and cut your costs. If you are interested for next year, you can volunteer on your own or as part of our group. Talk to us after the show.
In our free time, most of us will be in the Origins Boardroom run by the Columbus Area Boardgames Society (CABS). If you purchase a Boardroom or Warroom ribbon, you can play unlimited in these rooms. Also, CABS will be giving away a Rio Grande Game for each ribbon you have. That is a great deal. Buy the ribbon, get a game worth $10 - $30, and still get to play all day. Hard to beat that.
Come on up to Origins and stop by the Jolly Roger table. Ask us about CharCon and introduce yourself. We love meeting new folks.
Me again. Whole year has passed and I need to try a new list out. Craig is off dodging roadside bombs in Iraq, so I'm short on regular Fantasy players.
Anyone up for a few games of Fantasy? Buck and Nick......I would love to square off against your guys in a few games. 2250 points, 1 Special Chararcter allowed, usual tourney rules. Bring your cheesiest tourney legal list as i will most likely encounter cheese there.
I especially want to go against Buck's Daemons in a full battle. I figure he is looking for revenge from the skirmish games. Again, its oo bad Craig isn't here to go against his Tooled up (Cheesey) Magic Tzeech army again!
