Default Do you make characters for fun?

I was wondering do you make characters just for fun. When my Roommate is Bored and has a lot of free time he makes shadowrun characters. Me I write adventures for different games and sometimes make shadowrun characters for fun.

If you make characters for fun what game system is it? and do you get around to playing any of them?

I enjoy character creation a lot. But I really don't. That's probably just a side effect of being busy. When I have free time, I really just try to shut down and vegetate these days.
However, when I was younger, video games that had great character creation would lure me in for hours. Some that come readily to mind are Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Knights of the Old Republic, and wrestling games. I really am not a wrestling fan, but I always LOVED their character customization and wished it into RPGs.

When I was younger, and did alot of roleplaying, I did. I'd make character types I wanted to try out sometime. Sometimes I even got to play them, or something similar. Or if all else failed, I'd use them as NPC's. These days, I never do.

I still do it. For me it is relaxing to my geek self to sit with some music on, grab some coffe and try different variations of characters at different levels. I keep them in my NPC folders as you never know when you might need one as your players do something that you were not planning.

When I was younger I did, but honestly I haven't done this in years.

Nope, but I still have a binder with random characters I rolled up many years ago.

I still do. It's relaxing and gets the mind going. I used to be all about min/maxing them. But now days its more about making ones I would enjoy more that have more flavor to them. Still though it's a break from the daily grind.
