I have several questions about WH40K weaponry for anyone who plays the tabletop and hope you don't mind. I'm playing/running the Only War RPG and am curious how the rpg's view of the weaponry stacks up to those in the tabletop/miniatures game.
Here are items I'm wondering about:
1. How does the Baneblade's "baneblade cannon" (or whatever it's called in the tabletop) compare to the hull mounted Demolisher cannon? In the RPG, the demolisher is shorter ranged but much more damaging.
2. Is a Lehman Russ' demolisher cannon incredibly short ranged compared to real world tank weapons?
3. How hard is it for infantry to knock out a Lehman Russ tank or possibly a Rhino?
I don't know the rules for the baneblade, but the demolisher is a shorter range higher strength cannon then the standard Leman Russ battlecannon. It's herd to compare to the real world weapons, necause the scale is a little wird in 40k. In game a standard battlecannon has a 72" range, which allows it to shoot across the length of the game table (which is simulating the battle field). The Demolisher is only 24". A 6' tall man is about 1" tall. Make what you can of that information. As for infantry versus tank, a properly equipped infantry squad can take a rhino out easily, and a more heavily armored Leman Russ somewhat less easily, but still without too much trouble. If they only have small arms, the rhino becomes very difficult to destroy, and the Leman Russ becomes nearly impossible. Hope this helps. There are probably more knowledgable people available on the subject, and hopefully they will jump in to fill in gaps, or correct possible errors in my memory of game stats.
