Cult of the New and Love of the Old – October 12

It is almost here! One week! I am putting CharCon posters up in supermarkets between Beckley and Lewisburg today. The artwork is great! Billy Tackett has done a great job with program cover art and we are using it on some of the newest posters. It is very cool. Also this weekend, Borders Express will have a table set up for the WV Book Fair ( Oct. 11, 12) in Charleston and has a small CharCon display. Go check it out.

    CharCon News
The Book Fair is a great tie in for CharCon because several of our local artists will be at CharCon next week. Thomas Riddell, A. J. Menden, Melvin S. Hunter, Wendy M. Easton, and Edward A. Holsclaw are all going to be there. Also, Borders Express is one of our vendors and will have lots of Horror/Anime/Game related stuff again this year. In other news, we have got most of the tournaments and events set up. Check out the event catalog so you can schedule your weekend.
For our out of town guests there is a LODGING tab under the Registration link at the top of the page. Most of you have probably already seen it but I just noticed it today. It has a lot of good information.

PRE-REGISTRATION - Time is running out. Don't wait. Sign up now and get 5 Raffle Tickets and a Free Game.

No reviews again this week but here is the list of game I have written about over the last few months. All of them will be an event or available from the Appalachian Game Library during CharCon.

    New games
    Stone Age
    Tinner's Trail
    Pandemic*
    Hanging Gardens (Premiere tournament)
    Race for the Galaxy
    Blokus
    War of the Ring
    Power Grid
    Wings of War

    Old Games
    Kremlin
    Survive!*
    Daytona 500
    Um Reifenbreite
Betrayal at the House on the Hill*
    Buffy*
    Grand Army of the Republic
    Die Macher

There was one game that I wrote a review of that we do not have a copy of, Toledo by Mayfair Games. All I can say is sorry. If you have a copy bring it, I would like to play again.

*Horror theme or at least lots of death and destruction

    My Games
I played parts of a bunch of games this week. I say parts because we stopped one and finished one that someone else started. Nefertiti, Deukalion, Kayak Chaos, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Das Amulett, Motor Mouth, and Das Stφrrisches Muli.

Finding places to post the flyers and posters was no fun. I think I posted 6 but went in 11 businesses. Grocery stores are the only consistent place to look. I will try again tomorrow.
    See everyone next weekend.
