    Default 2009 Charcon games

I just posted this in another thread but wanted to make this it's own thread some people will see it.

This year for Charcon we are going to push/ask/beg GM's to run games in 2 hour blocks. The purpose of this is to allow people to see/play as many games as they can or want during the convention.

This is not to say that if a GM has a longer, more involved game that they cannot run it, we will not stop anyone from running a longer game.

The convention is still new to this area and a lot of people that don't get to attend Origins or Gencon haven't seen the plethora of games that may be out there.

So this year we are going to try and showcase as many games as we can by running a lot of games in 2 hour blocks to allow people to play a system and move on to other games.

We will still be having the tournaments will play all day and the Aerodrome people will probably be returning along with the Sailpower group.

So if you are interested and would like to run games, think about something you can put together and run in 2 hour blocks that will be fun and teach people the system and hopefully gain some new players for the system and your gaming group.

    I am going to run:

Check Your 6 WW2 Air combat
    WW2 naval
Battlestar Galactica (2 different game types)
Lord of the Rings Amon Hen

Systems I would like to see. If you would like to run one of these but don't have the materials I have miniatures and terrain for most of these systems I would let someone use to run these games:

    Starfleet Battles
    Battletech
40k and fantasy skirmish (low point, small unit games)
Would LOVE to see a BIG scale Apocolypse game (I know that would take more than 4 hours but would be cool to see)
    40k Epic
    other LOTR games
Flames of War games (small scale)
    civil war

Just some ideas if anyone has other feel free to post here.

Will the two hour block also apply to RPGs? Most of what I've seen runs about 4hrs.

I am tentively looking to possibly do an arena style combat tournament with an RPG system that isn't "mainstream". not real sure yet about anything else.

No. What Nick should have mentioned is that this push is in regards to Mini games (all of what he listed are mini games). Sometimes these games can last 5 or 6 hours, taking up half of the day or more. So, we would like to see games that give folks the chance to try out a game without committing such a large chunk of their day.

Don't take it to mean we don't want longer games. Instead, consider running a short version of the game early in the show multiple times and then run a longer version later, once folks have had a chance to try it out and decide if it is for them.

Hello all- I'm new to the CharCon site but live in the Eastern Panhandle and would love to attend this year. My husband has experience GMing WoD, Shadowrun, and Palladium if the staff would like to host these games we'd love to help out.

Also we have a lot of experience with Descent, Pirate's Cove, Colosseum, Arkham Horror (for those that really hate themselves and want to die repeatedly), Shadows over Camelot, Memoir44, MtG, Gloom, Munchkins, Cleopatra, Tribune. Basically any games listed here http://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/ABlindManSees and a few extras.

    Looking forward to the Convention!

If I can get some help, I'd love to do a small Battle Fleet Gothic, though now that I think about it, someone else ran it last year and will most likely do the same this year.

O.D.D. will get a list of the games we would like to run and have it up in a week or so.

I plan to run D&D delves all weekend. A 10th level delve on Friday, a 20th level delve on Saturday and a 30th level delve on Sunday.

A delve is a short adventure consisting of 3 encounters. The players are usually dropped right in to the first encounter. I expect each one to last about 6 hours, about 2 hours per encounter. This is my best case scenario, they could easily go longer if I have to spend a lot of time teaching.

When not running a delve I plan to give crash courses in playing 4E and to have a laptop and printer set up throughout the entire con to allow people to sit at any time and make a character whether to play in one of my delves or just for fun.

Looking at coming to Charcon this year and could run either....

2 hour Hollow Earth Expiditions (rpg) Wilderness Kids in the Haunted House -
A group of scouts stranded by a broken radiotor... venture up the road to the spooky old house where their scout master went for help.

2 Hour (RPG) It's the Great Cthulu Charlie Brown -Using Hollow Earth Rules.

4 Hour Hollow Earth Expiditions (rpg)- Blood on the Amazon- Searching the Amzononian rainforest for a lost city and missing expedition.

2 Hour minis game- Distroy ALL Monsters- 6 player godzilla monster slam using 3 inch high Kaiju Gashapon figures.

2 Hour minis Game- Tank Attack - 20mm tank fight using Battleground WWII rules

Which do you think would go over best?
