Last year CharCon. along with many other conventions, and events around the country were faced with hard choices regarding masks, vaccines. health concerns, and the safety of attendees/volunteers. While those concerns certainly have not gone away, they do seem to have changed some for the better.
With that in mind, our team has jointly made the decision not to require any vaccinations or masks in 2023. This is in alignment with what other events are doing. and the current CDC policy. We will proactively ask any potential attendees to stay home if they have any symptoms of being sick, Covid or not If this is you. and you already purchased a badge. we will refund it or carry it over to 2024. If you show up exhibiting symptoms, you may very well be asked to leave.
This is not in any way meant to suggest we have lost our focus on what we think is best for all of the CharCon gaming family. We strongly encourage everyone to get the vaccine, and be current with the latest boosters. Those who prefer to wear masks, are encouraged to do so. We aren't requiring it. but taking a home test just before attending the first day. would be a great idea for everyone to consider.
Again, please understand this decision was not any easier than the one we faced last year. Much like last year. this decision is not likely to make everyone happy. and we understand that. CharCon has always been a family game convention, focused on bringing garners. friends, and family together to enjoy the camaraderie of gaming with one another, and we think this decision aligns best with that goal.
